    Requesting Early Dismissal

Early dismissals will only be granted if a request from a parent/legal guardian is received. Students who are leaving early will have an e-hall pass generated, or they will be added to the “DAILY EARLY DISMISSAL LOG” that all teachers have access to.  Please make certain that your student is aware of the early dismissal time, and have them sign out with the Attendance Office before leaving the building.  Any student, who becomes ill during the day, must go to the clinic to call home.

ALL EARLY DISMISSAL REQUESTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED 2 HOURS BEFORE THE DISMISSAL TIME DUE TO
    REQUEST VOLUME

Appointment Note: You may want to allot yourself additional time to retrieve your student if you have an appointment to attend, ex. medical or DMV appointment.  It may take additional time to collect students for dismissal due to their location in the building or the class they are currently in, ex. Gym class or drivers education (located in the rear lot of the building)

Early dismissal requests can be submitted by:
    ParentVue
    Handwritten Letter from Parent/Guardian
    Email to JCHattendance@lcps.org
No Calls for Early Dismissals will be accepted

    Parent/Legal Guardian Pick up

    PICTURE IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED

Parent/Legal Guardian Pick up: Parent/legal guardian may come into the school to pick up the student. The parent/legal guardian will complete an Early Dismissal request form and present his/her identification (driver license) at the Attendance Office (Room 1101A). The Attendance Office will call the classroom for your student to come to the main office.

    Return from Early Dismissal

Please have your student sign back in with the attendance office if they return to campus after an early dismissal.  This will allow the Attendance Office to confirm that your student is currently in the building.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Please do not call or text your student to meet you outside for pick up without first notifying the John Champe attendance office.  This will result in your student not signing out with the attendance office and being given an “Left Without Permission” attendance mark that will remain on his/her attendance record.  This will also result in administrative consequences.  We care about the welfare and safety of your student and discourage this method.

No early dismissal requests after 4:05 p.m. (13 minutes prior to the ending of the school day) will be granted.
