Welcome to Fourth Grade
-
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to fourth grade at Aldie Elementary School! My name is Ms.Erica Meadows. I am very excited to be your 4th grade teacher this year. This will be my 2nd year teaching at Aldie Elementary, my 9th year teaching in Loudoun County Public Schools, and 14th year teaching in Virginia. Over my 13-year teaching career in Virginia, I have always taught 4th or 5th grade. I look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you and your family this coming school year.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my partner, friends, and family. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and have 1 house cat named Angelina and 1 outside cat named Carlita. One of my passions is being outdoors and in nature doing activities like hiking, kayaking, and playing disk golf. I love to travel too; this summer I was able to take a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. I also love music and going to see live music concerts/shows.
This year we will have fun learning! In math, we cover a lot of skills such as adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplication, fractions, decimals, measurement, and geometry. Knowing the basic multiplication facts is crucial for success in 4th grade math. In reading, we will read and work with nonfiction and fiction. In Virginia Studies (social sciences) we learn all about Virginia past and present. I love teaching VA Studies. In science, we will learn about plants, animals, the ocean, clouds, and weather tools to just list a few topics. We will be doing some extensive research and writing as well in 4th grade. I hope you are ready to be creative and write essays! I plan to take us on at least 2 field trips; last year we went to Harpers Ferry and the Aldie Triangle that enhanced the Virginia Studies curriculum. Please check the Aldie Elementary School website and the fourth grade page for more information about the curriculum, current events, and my contact information.
I look forward to meeting you soon. We have many great opportunities ahead of us. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas about the upcoming school year. This is going to be a fantastic year! See you on August 23rd for Open House!
Sincerely,
Ms. Erica Meadows
