Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Burnham-Monnahan

Hello students and parents! I am Mrs. Monnahan and I am so very excited to join the Discovery Elementary team this year! I have been working as a Special Education Teacher and a School Administrator for the past 13 years.

I received my Bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College and completed my Master's of Arts in Education in Educational Administration: Supervisor of Special Education Programs through the University of Nebraska. I spent 6 years as a special education teacher and chair in Prince George's County, Maryland. I then moved to San Antonio, TX, where I taught Special Education and worked as an administrator for the next seven years.

I am so excited to be returning to 4th grade this year as a Co-Teacher with Mrs. Farley. I spent my first two years of teaching as a 4th grade Co-Teacher, and I absolutely love working with this grade level!

My husband has served in the Air Force for the last 19 years and is getting ready to retire, so I am excited to have found a permanent home here in Northern Virginia! We have two children: Clare and Kaden, who are in Pre-K and 2nd grade in Fauquier County. My husband and I coach both of our children's soccer teams and they also participate in dance and swimming.

I am ready to have an amazing year and cannot wait to meet our 2022-2023 4th grade Trailblazers!
