- Substitute Qualifications and Requirements
SUBSTITUTE QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

To be a substitute in LCPS, the minimum requirements are that a substitute teacher shall be at least 18 years of age AND hold a high school diploma OR have passed a high school equivalency examination approved by the VDOE Board of Education.

Experience as a lead teacher/instructor/professor of adults or children is preferred. Experience teaching or training adults or children in a non-classroom public school environment required (i.e. scout leader, classroom/school volunteer, preschool instructor, coach, store or restaurant manager, trainer).

Knowledge of effective classroom management strategies is preferred.

Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

Required Documentation:

Copy of Official or Unofficial Transcripts of Highest Degree Earned (minimum requirement is a high school diploma).

Two professional reference letters or contacts from the last 12 months.
