When is the library open?
The library is normally open from 8:15 - 3:30 Monday through Friday. Students may come to the library throughout the school day during Resource, Lunch, and between blocks.
How many books can I have out? For how long?
We limit students to three books at a time for two weeks; however, they may come to the library frequently to switch out books. We do this because we want to make sure the books are circulating as much as possible and waits are short.
Books may be renewed, so long as no other student has a hold on the book, but the student must have the book with them for renewal. If students have multiple books that are overdue, no new books can be checked out. Students are able to choose from a variety of books from our "Free" library shelf until their overdue books are returned. Students may check out up to three e-books at a time for a period of two weeks. If there are any issues with e-book check out, please let us know as soon as possible.
How can I request a book?
Stop by the library and fill out a hold slip. The slip will then be placed on your locker when your book comes in.
MackinVia will notify you by email once your ebook hold comes in.
What happens if I damage a book or lose it?
It is the responsibility of the borrower to return or renew items by the due date. While we do not charge fines for overdue books, borrowers must pay for any items that have been lost or damaged beyond use. If any lost item is found and returned in usable condition within the current school year, and has not yet been replaced, a check will be sent to the student's home.
To find out the amount due for a lost/damaged book, please see the library staff. Patrons may pay with a check (made out to Seneca Ridge Middle School), cash, or our online payment system - which is non-refundable (select online school payments from the main school page). Please note, that we cannot make change - so if paying by cash, please bring in the exact amount due.
Can I donate?
We are grateful for donations!
We accept new and gently used books, and we'll make sure they find a home. We also accept some furniture and craft items; please email us to confirm.
