• SHMS Unified Mental Health Team

    Stone Hill Middle School’s Unified Mental Health Team (UMHT) – comprised of school counselors, psychologist, social worker, and student assistance specialist – offers mental health services and supports to enhance student social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This team of school-based mental health professionals works with students, families, school staff, and outside providers to promote a positive school environment that supports student success and ability to cope with challenges through direct (e.g., classroom curriculum, group counseling and individual counseling) and indirect (e.g., collaborating or consulting with staff, families or communities) methods. 

  • Laura Andrews, EL and Spectrum Counselor

    Hi parents!  My name is Laura Andrews, and I am a new counselor at Stone Hill.  I recently relocated to Ashburn from Florida, where I was a middle school counselor in Broward County.  I will be working primarily with Spectrum and EL students, but my door is always open for any Stone Hill student or parent.  Thank you for welcoming me into your community and I look forward to a great year as a Stingray!

    Hi! I’m Mrs. Jackson! This is my 3rd year as a school counselor, at SHMS. In my free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with my children! One way I prioritize my mental health is by journaling and taking necessary breaks. 😊

  • Jennifer Alberth, 7th Grade School Counselor

    Jennifer Alberth, 7th Grade Counselor

    This is Ms. Alberth's 27th year in LCPS and 15th year at SHMS.  Ms. Alberth has been a middle school counselor for all her years in LCPS and loves working with middle school students!  Her goal is to support all of our students in the areas of academic, social/emotional, and career development. 

     

    In addition to working with the seventh graders this year, Ms. Alberth will co-lead our Military Connected Group with Ms. Mizerak. 

     

    Ms. Alberth loves reading, spending time with family,  and traveling when she can. 

  • Kelly Inman, 8th Grade Counselor

    My name is Kelly Inman and I'm honored to be the 8th grade counselor this year. Teaching classroom lessons, supporting students, and working with parents are the parts of my job that I love the most. 

    In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time in nature with my family, and learning the Irish language. I also have a dream to climb Mount Everest someday, so I have started training in rock climbing and mountaineering.

    I am the school social worker for Stone Hill Middle School and am excited to be a member of the Stone Hill Unified Mental Health Team. I am dedicated to supporting the whole child and their families through mental health support, resources, and access for socio-emotional wellness and academic achievement. I find it important to celebrate each child for their unique gifts and allow them to share those gifts for their personal success. 

    I constantly seek ways to promote self-care for better mental health and wellness. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and supporting my children in their various sports and activities. 

  • Fiona Brown, Student Assistance Specialist

    I have enjoyed serving the Stone Hill and Rock Ridge community as a Student Assistance Specialist since 2017. I am passionate about reducing the culture of stigma and silence around substance use by helping students, parents and staff approach this issue from a health perspective. I love watching my kids play sports, visiting Lake Anna, and spending time outside walking or hiking. I take care of my mental health by practicing yoga and doing creative things like making pinterest fail cakes and cupcakes!

  • Matt Frye, 6th Grade Dean

    I am in my 7th year at Stone Hill Middle School. Before becoming a dean, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English, Communications, and Intro. to Computer Applications. I have a M.S.Ed. in Education Administration from Shenandoah University, as well as other degrees from Shepherd University. I am originally from West Virginia and love spending time with my family back in WV, especially my energetic niece and nephews. I enjoy reading and catching up on TV shows in my spare time and love to relax with “no plans” weekends!



  • Danny Breece, 7th Grade Dean

    My name is Danny Breece and I am the 7th Grade Dean at Stone Hill. I am originally from Calvert County, Maryland. I went to Milligan University to get my Business and teaching degree. I also have a Master's in Educational Leadership.  After Milligan,  I worked for the town of Jonesborough in TN as the Athletic Coordinator then as a teacher for Pinellas County Schools in Florida and Johnson City Schools in Tennessee. I returned to Milligan University to work as a coach for the Baseball team. I have spent the last several years as a Dean and teacher for Loudon County Schools. My favorite things to do are spend time with my wife and kids and work on cars. When I need to recharge and ground myself, I spend time outdoors.

  • Jonathan Kasman, 8th Grade Dean

     My name is Jonathan Kasman and I am the 8th Grade Dean at Stone Hill. I am originally from Long Island, New York and then I went to James Madison University to get my History degree and Master's in Secondary Education. After JMU, I got a job teaching history at Mercer Middle School. I also coach High School Soccer at Dominion High School and love all sports. My favorite teams are the Yankees, Rangers, Jets, Knicks, and all JMU teams. When I want to relax/reset, I like to workout, go for runs, or watch any sporting event on tv.

    I am Jaclyn Royster, one of the Assistant Principals here at Stone Hill. I have been a part of the Stone Hill Stingray family since the Fall of 2012. 

    It’s easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities, so when I need a little mental health pick-up, I always rely on quality time with my husband and dogs. We love to curl up on the couch and watch movies together. I love to listen to all types of music, but classical music always grounds me mentally.

    My name is Jen Laible and I am a member of the United Mental Health Team at Stone Hill Middle School. This is my thirteenth year as the Educational Diagnostician at Stone Hill and I also work at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School.  I love working at Stone Hill!

    In my free time to maintain my own mental health and wellness, I enjoy spending time with my children, family, and friends, reading, cooking, being outside, and coaching my children’s soccer teams!

    My name is Carol Miller, R.N., and I am the School Nurse at Stone Hill Middle School. I am in my 16th year of school nursing, and I love what I

    do!  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. My likes: Spending time with my family and friends,

    vacations to the beach, walking outdoors, reading good books, and binge-watching my favorite shows and movies!

    The way I relax and take care of my mental health is to get outdoors in the sunshine and visit my favorite local parks. I am looking forward to a

    happy year ahead and helping Stone Hill students stay healthy and ready to learn!
