Experiential Learning Overview

  • EL LogoEstablished in 2020, The LCPS Computer Science Experiential Learning program was created to provide a successful long-term sustainable strategy to integrate computer science and computational thinking skills into every subject (i.e. Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.) for grades K-12 to bridge the gap between computer science education and the Tech Talent workforce pipeline.

The Computer Science Experiential Learning Office is dedicated to connecting LCPS students with a variety of computer science experiences beyond the classroom. This program will include internship, mentorship, and job shadowing opportunities with local business and industry leaders.  Our office works closely to promote opportunities to make the most of your LCPS education.

Experiential Learning and LCPS' Strategic Goal

  • Experiential Learning is the method of educating through first-hand experiences. Skills, knowledge, and experience are acquired outside of the traditional academic classroom setting, and may include internships, mentorships, capstone projects, and service-learning projects.

  •  LCPS' Strategic Goal - ONE LCPS 2027 was adopted in Spring 2022. The Computer Science Office supports One LCPS, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to participate in real-world authentic learning experiences. For more information about One LCPS visit here
