• Purpose of the Mental Health Policy

The LCPS Athletic Training Program strives to educate the student-athletes, parents, coaches, and staff regarding psychological concerns at the secondary school level.  This includes recognition, proper referral, and the development of an emergency action plan.  Any LCPS student-athlete suspected of having a mental health concern will be referred to the appropriate healthcare professional.  The Athletic Trainers will adhere to their scope of care and legal limitations as well to confidentiality considerations when addressing a student-athlete suspected of a mental health concern.  The Athletic Trainer will refer to the "Emergency Action Plan Guidelines:Mental Health Emergency in Secondary School Athletes" document for mental health concerns including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
