The mission of the school counseling department at Sully Elementary School is to empower all students to meet their highest achievement by creating a safe environment that cares for the physical, emotional, social, academic, and career needs of all students. Counseling services will equip students with the social and emotional skills required to make successful and meaningful contributions to their communities by educating and personally connecting with students through classroom counseling, small group counseling, and individual counseling.

The Sully Elementary School Counseling Program envisions that all students become productive community members and successful life-long learners.  All students will be provided with emotional management skills, adaptive social skills, and career and academic planning. The whole child will be developed to equip students to set goals, develop their strengths, maintain positive personal and professional relationships, maintain healthy emotional and cognitive habits, respect diversity, and find personal and professional success throughout their lifespans.

    We believe:

    All students can learn.

All students and staff should be treated with dignity and respect.

All students can achieve academic success.

All students and staff should have access to school counseling program supports.

Needs should be met according to what is fair, not equal.

All students are entitled to comprehensive, development, data driven, and preventative counseling services consistent with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model.

All students and staff have the right to be serviced by a state licensed school counselor.

It is the responsibility of the school counselor to advocate for students and staff.

It is the responsibility of the school counselor to serve as a leader in areas of behavioral, emotional, and mental health expertise in the school.
