• Empowering Diversity in Gifted Education

The LCPS EDGE program is designed to nurture and challenge students with advanced academic potential from populations historically underrepresented in LCPS gifted programs.  The program was developed to address the equity gap and ensure that students from all backgrounds receive curriculum commensurate with their abilities.  EDGE students work together in a supportive, small-group setting. They engage in activities that help them strengthen their critical and creative thinking skills, as well as develop behaviors associated with high achievement such as growth mindset, perseverance, and collaboration.  EDGE groups are facilitated by the school's gifted resource teacher and meet approximately 30-45 minutes per week.

The SEARCH teacher seeks input from classroom teachers and other staff members to identify students for the EDGE program.  In addition, classroom observations and student work samples are reviewed to support the participation of students in the EDGE program.
