Ms. Melissa Fye

Gifted Education Resource Teacher

(updated September 7, 2023)

My name is Ms. Melissa Fye and I will be the Gifted Education resource teacher for the 2023-24 school year at Ashburn Elementary. I will be providing thinking skill instruction in grades K-3 (SEARCH Program), assisting with GT identification in third, fourth and fifth grades, conducting the EDGE program at Ashburn, and facilitating learning for GT identified 4th and 5th grade students as a resource teacher for GIA: FUSION and GT: DCI students. More information on these specific GT services can be found on the "Overview" tab on this webpage.

This is my 14th year facilitating gifted education in LCPS and I've taught for a total of almost 19 years in LCPS. I attended Loudoun County Public Schools eons ago and was a member of the GT program while in attendance. My previous experience includes teaching FUTURA for LCPS, 2nd and 4th grades at Ashburn Elementary, and co-teaching a 5th grade GT, Level 4 class in FCPS. I have taught the current school-based model of GT services in Loudoun for the last 6 years. James Madison University is my undergraduate alma mater, where I graduated with double majors and a criminology concentration. I attended Marymount University for graduate school and I obtained my GT endorsement through the University of Virginia in 2004. I have two high school boys who attend school here in Loudoun also.  In my spare time, you can find me kayaking on the local rivers, traveling to places worth scuba diving, or engrossed in mid-century design. I have a strong internal drive for lifelong learning and hope to inspire your child to do the same!
