Welcome to Third Grade!

Hello!  My name is Patricia Maher and I am very excited to begin another year as a Third Grade teacher at Hillside Elementary.  I have taught EL, Pre-school, Kindergarten, First,, Second, and Third Grade. I have taught in Arlington County, and Loudoun County, VA.  I have also been an Early Childhood teacher for the Department of Labor in Washington, DC and a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant for the Albemarle County Public Schools. I live in Round Hill, VA with my husband, big dog Lucy, and sassy cat, Patches.  I have 3 grown daughters. 

I received a B.S. in Education from VA Tech and an M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education from George Mason University. I have an endorsement to teach English Language Learners and Early Childhood NK-4th grade from the Virginia Department of Education. 

In addition to teaching young children, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, swimming, and going to the beach.  My favorite children's book is "The Raft" by Jim LaMarche. It reminds me of my childhood spent growing up along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach where I took my first swimming lessons!
