This is my 11th year teaching, second year at FHS. I am from the Chicagoland area but moved to Virginia almost 13 years ago. I spent 10 years in the Richmond area and the rest in NOVA. My kiddos are both in college now and my husband passed in 2008 when they were only 5 & 7. I have 2 puppers that I love and that take up what little time I have outside of work.
I graduated from Indiana's School of Business with a degree in Marketing. I earned my MBA from Northern Illinois University and worked in retail management for 10 years, then in the corporate world from admin to Senior Program Manager for 10 years. When my husband was diagnosed, I went back to school for teaching so that I could work on my kids' schedule and earned my Masters of Teaching from National Louis University. I first taught math in middle school and then moved into CTE at the high school level. I do and have worked part time with Starbucks ever since becoming a teacher because teaching just doesn't pay enough. However, still being involved outside of education gives me a unique perspective on the 'real' world, which I incorporate in my classroom.
