Ms. Marjie Quigley

Hi! My name is Marjie Quigley. I worked for three years at Cardinal Ridge as the PALS (Phonemic Awareness Literacy Screening) tutor. This past year was my first year back teaching full time and I was so happy to be back with first graders where I belong! Teaching and being with kids is my passion, especially teaching reading!

I am from Waldorf, Maryland. I have two sisters, one who is a gymnastics coach and lives with me here in South Riding, the other is a veterinarian in Southern Maryland. I earned my Elementary Education degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2003. After that, I taught in Charles County, Maryland for 6 years. During that time, I earned my Masters Degree in Reading, also from UMD. After having my second son, I decided to stay home to raise my children. I had my 3rd and final child in 2011 while I was off and we moved to Virginia in 2012. I was a busy stay at home mother for several years:  I worked as a part time Title 1 reading tutor in Maryland, became (and still am)  a Cubscout and Scouts BSA leader for all 3 of my children, volunteered in my childrens' classrooms, became a stroke and turn judge and starter for my childrens' swim team, and started a cooking club with kids that met at my house.

In my free time, I love to run (I have run 3 full marathons and countless half marathons), attend exercise classes (Kelly's Boot Camp), cycle on the Peloton...basically I am a fitness nut! I also love being outside, traveling, hiking, sailing, and camping! I have attended summer camp with my scouts for 8 years now and it's something I really look forward to. This past summer I attended 3 weeks of summer camp in July, with the final week being a week spent sailing with the scouts in the Florida Keys! I also love to cook and bake. I started a neighborhood book club and love spending time with my neighbors and friends. Of course, I spend a lot of time with my 3 children, who will be in 3 different schools this coming year!

Please contact me with any questions/comments this school year! My email is marjorie.quigley@lcps.org or feel free to text my cell: 301-653-0186.
