Ms. Daugherty, Tara

Ms. Daugherty is a Fairfax native, who has served in the field of special education since 2004.  She earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Dietetics from James Madison University and a Master’s degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She now serves as the Seneca Ridge and River Bend Special Education Dean. 

 Ms. Daugherty began her educational career in Fairfax County teaching 7th grade English and Math in the special education setting.  She later moved to Loudoun County where she taught 6th grade Math and served as the Special Education Subject Area Lead Teacher.  Ms. Daugherty believes education is the greatest of all professions.  With her educational and professional experiences, she has a continued desire to work in a purposeful environment where children are encouraged to learn who they are and be challenged to achieve success. 

 In her spare time, Ms. Daugherty enjoys spending time with her family, running, kayaking, and walking her dog. She loves getting to watch her daughters compete in taekwondo and softball.
