LCPS-Virginia Tech Partnership: Redistrict
Virginia Tech's Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics is a research and educational unit that focuses on using big data science to address, inform and solve complex projects.
Virginia Tech students have developed a data platform (on their Redistrict website) for public use during this Dulles area elementary school attendance zone change process; the site provides the same data posted on this Planning webpage, including student counts by planning zone and school capacity information.
With Redistrict, users can understand how proposed changes affect people in each neighborhood, create and share plans and/or ideas with others during the process as well as review and comment on plans prepared by neighbors and other participants.
The goal of Redistrict is to provide users with an in-depth analysis of the data with the expectation that by informing parents and community members of considerations and other demands during the planning process, the public will have a more clear understanding of the attendance zone plans being reviewed and discussed by the Loudoun County School Board.
