Mrs. Mistie Denny

My Name is Mistie Denny, and I am excited to join the Lowes Island team! I am new to Loudoun County and Virginia, but not to teaching. I have 10 years of diverse teaching experience that includes two states (now three), and four different grade levels in both urban and rural settings.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design and Instruction from McKendree University.

Virginia will be the 5th state I’ve lived in! I was born and raised in Michigan. I moved to Tennessee for college.  My first years of marriage were spent in Georgia. My three children were raised in Illinois. Now our crew of 6, along with our English Mastiff, live here so we can be close to the rest of our tribe. My family loves history, and we are very excited to explore the wealth of historical locations that Northern Virginia has to offer!

I believe that the best learning happens within a collaborative community of learners. I make every effort to create an inviting space that encourages relationships and discourse. In my classroom it is important for every child to feel like they belong so they can dream big and take risks. I encourage students to be curious, make wise choices, and accept challenges with courage. I am passionate about creating strong relationships with students and their families. I am excited to get to know you this year!
