Mr. Nick Grzeda

Nick Grzeda is the Computer Science Supervisor in LCPS. While committed and engaged in all things Ed Tech since 2014, Nick worked collaboratively with colleagues in LCPS and around the Commonwealth of Virginia to establish three Lighthouse Computer Science Immersion Elementary Schools as well as finding way to integrate Computer Science Standards into grades K-8. Nick is a member of the Computer Science Advisory Board for Virginia, a member of the Planning Committee for the CSforVA Computer Science Summit, and an EdCampNoVA Founding Member.

Experiential Learning Coordinator- Computer Science

Kristina Lee is the Computer Science Experiential Learning Coordinator at LCPS. Kristina has worked in education for six years. Kristina’s career background include a higher education adminsitrator in Residence Life/Student Housing, Student Conduct and most recently in Career Services. Kristina’s role at LCPS is to create expriential learning opportunities to bridge the gap between computer science education and the Tech Talent workforce pipeline.

Mrs. Sharon Brandon

Sharon Brandon has been an educator in Northern Virginia her whole professional career, predominantly teaching and facilitating in Loudoun County Public Schools. She has extensive education and experience focused in both elementary & middle schools. A passionate curiosity has made her a lifelong learner with a desire to instill the same passion for learning in others. Her mission is to promote authentic, meaningful instructional experiences for all students, incorporating computer science & computational thinking principles within every domain.

Mr. Shawn DeLuca

Instructional Facilitator Of Computer Science (Elementary School)

Mr. DeLuca has worked in the field of education for almost 20 years. During his time as a classroom teacher, he was able to integrate coding and robotics into his daily lesson plans. Students in his class learned how to code using Scratch and Microsoft Make-Code. They also worked with LEGO EV-3 robotics and Minecraft EDU. Outside of the classroom, Mr. DeLuca has been an advocate for computer science integration and has presented at the Code to the Future Conference, the Future of Education Technology Conference, and Inspire Loudoun. As an Instructional Facilitator of Computer Science, Mr. DeLuca works with teachers and students to help integrate computer science and computational thinking strategies into their classroom.

Mrs. Becca Gratz

Instructional Facilitator Of Computer Science (Elementary School)

Becca just finished her 9th year of teaching, and her 3rd year in Loudoun County. She has a Bachelors of Science in Mass Communications, Event Planning from Frostburg State University. She then went on to pursue a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, also from Frostburg State. She began her teaching career in pre-k special education in West Virginia for a year before transferring to third grade where she taught for 7 years. Becca’s passion lies in Computer science and PBL. Becca holds several certifications that include Google Certified Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, MaKey MaKey Ambassador, FlipGrid CE, SEE (SMART Exemplary Educator), Prodigy Champion Educator, and BrainPOP Certified Educator, along with several more. She enjoys speaking to teachers about the wonders of plugging in their classrooms, and the benefits to all learners – especially those in a PL classroom. Some of her favorite CS tools include the MaKey MaKey, Hummingbirds, and Dash Robots. Becca has presented at conferences around the US, including FETC, ISTE, and digitally for BrainPOP Educators around the globe.

Mr. Mike Speidel

Instructional Facilitator Of Computer Science (Middle School)

Mike Speidel has worked in the field of education for over 20 years. During his time as a educator he has held positions as a classroom teacher, school based professional developer, district based professional developer, Instructional Designer for LCPS’s Virtual High School, and Aerospace Educator based at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Outside of the classroom, Mike has been an advocate for educational technology & computer science integration. He has presented at multiple educational conferences and has served on the executive board of VSTE as Vice President and Treasurer. In his current role Mike works with teachers and students to help integrate computer science and computational thinking strategies into their Middle School classrooms.
