QUARTER 3 PLANS

Week 1-2:

• Reading: Independently chosen fiction book for IR 
• Grammar: NoRedInk Practice Quiz if not completed in Q2
• Writing: Quarter 2 Reflection
• Formative - Student Conference/Goal Setting, Text Structures practice, Nonfiction Study Guide (students can use on test if completed)

Week 3-4:

• VIRGINIA GROWTH ASSESSMENT - February 1-2
• Summative: Nonfiction Skills Test - February 3-4
• Reading: Begin Historical Fiction Book Clubs - Book sampling and practice book club

Week 5-6:

• Reading: Historical Fiction Lessons 1-4
• Writing: Book club submissions
• Formatives: Book club meetings
• Summative: One graded book club meeting participation 

Week 7-End:

• Reading: Historical fiction lessons 4-5, complete book club project 
• Writing: Literary essay 

Quarter 3 Graded (Major Summative) Assignments: 

• Root word assessments 1-3
• Book club meetings (2 graded)
• Book club project 
• Nonfiction skills test
• Literary essay **May be pushed onto Quarter 3 gradebook to allow time for feedback and student completion
