Degrees and Certifications:
Hi! My name is Hal Dockins and this is my first year at Dominion Trail Elementary. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 with a degree in Mass Communications while also serving as a mentor at a Title I school in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating, I served an additional year working as a literacy coach in the Richmond Public School system through a partnership between the Americorps Program at VCU and America Reads. I later obtained my Elementary Education teaching certification through the University of West Florida.
Throughout my career, I have taught English in Colombia and Spain as well as 4th grade at a private school in Florida. This past year, I taught 4th and 5th grade at a private school in Woodbridge, Virginia. I enjoy being part of the Dominion Trail family and I am looking forward to a great school year!
Having worked with students from a variety of different backgrounds and nationalities, I cherish cultural diversity and encourage students to share their unique cultures with one another. I enjoy watching students grow throughout the school year and look to give them the academic, emotional, and social skills needed to succeed. I strive to create a welcoming environment where students learn more about themselves, others, and the world around them.
