Elizabeth Akers, Social Science

Mrs. Elizabeth Akers teaches AP Psychology. She graduated from Broad Run High School, earned both her undergraduate degree in History and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech. Mrs. Akers is a proud charter member of the IHS Faculty. Prior to joining Independence, she taught at Tuscarora High School for 8 years, where she served as Department Chair.  When she’s not in the classroom, you can find her spending time with her husband and two young daughters. She is thrilled to be a part of the Independence community.
