Hello and welcome to Research Biology! In this course we will study the science of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, evolution and how they react to their environment. Though this is an SOL course, topics will be mastered using inquiry-based research experimentation. The main topics covered include: Nature of Science, Classification, Biochemistry, Cell Structure and Function, Cell Reproduction, Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration, DNA and RNA, DNA technology, Genetics, Evolution, and Ecology. We will use observation and experimentation to explain science and how living things work. We will discuss how science affects our everyday life and how science is changing through new discoveries in Biology and other scientific fields. Students will present their research findings through lab reports, projects and research papers. I am looking forward to a year of learning, experimenting, and discovering in our classroom!
