• Quarter 1 6th Grade Band

    • Students will learn and be able to identify parts of their instruments
    • Students will learn to assemble their instrument
    • Students will learn to use available technology (ex: WeVideo) to record, create, and submit playing assessments.
    • Students will learn to make a characteristic sound on their mouthpiece and instrument 
    • Students will learn how to hold their instrument correctly and play with proper posture
    • Students will learn to identify, count, and play whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes, and their corresponding rests.
    • Students will learn to identify and play the first 3 notes on their instrument

    Quarter 1 7th Grade Band

    • Students will learn to use available technology (ex: WeVideo) to record, create, and submit playing assessments.
    • Students will review how to create a characteristic sound on their instrument through long tones and warm ups 
    • Students will review proper playing posture and technique
    • Students will review basic rhythms and rests (whole, half, quarter, 8th, and dotted half notes)
    • Percussion students will review and learn beginner snare rudiments (flam, paradiddle, buzz stroke, etc..)
    • Students will review identifying notes and fingerings for the first 3 major scales.
    • Students will learn dotted quarter note rhythms.
    • Students will learn notes of the chromatic scale.

    Quarter 1 8th Grade Band

    • Students will learn to use available technology (ex: WeVideo) to record, create, and submit playing assessments.
    • Students will review how to create a characteristic sound on their instrument through long tones and warm ups 
    • Students will review and learn proper playing embouchure, posture and technique
    • Students will review and learn basic rhythms and rests (whole, half, quarter, 8th, 16th and dotted half and quarter notes)
    • Percussion students will review and learn the intermediate snare rudiments (flam, 5 stroke, 9 stroke, paradiddle, etc.)
    • Students will review and learn identifying notes and fingerings for the first 3 major scales.
    • Students will review and learn articulations (staccato, legato, accent, etc.) and dynamics (forte, piano, mezzoforte, etc.).
    • Students will work to play with their section with a balanced and blended sound
