Degrees and Certifications:
I am very excited to be a part of the Guilford family! A little bit about me: I grew up in Weston, Connecticut, and from there I went to The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. I received my bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 1990.
My husband and I were married in 1993, and I stayed home with our four daughters for 17 years. We lived in Savannah, Georgia, for the first half of our marriage and I loved every minute of it, because we lived only 10 minutes away from the beach! I discovered a love for painting with watercolor and became a member of the Tybee Island Artists Association; I sold many of my paintings there. It was a wonderful experience living by the beach and I have fond memories of our life there.
I moved to Leesburg with my family in 2008 and I re-entered the workforce. I started teaching children and adults how to sew in classes that I developed for Hancock Fabrics and the Viking Sewing Gallery. I’ve also taught sewing in several of Loudoun’s elementary schools in their after-school programs. I loved teaching young children and decided to become a substitute teacher.
In became a full-time Teaching Assistant and worked at a school in Ashburn for the last four years. I applied to the LCPS Cohort program through George Mason University to get my master’s in Special Education to become a teacher. I received my Master’s December of 2019.
I can’t wait to work in fourth-grade this year and I am happy to be part of such a wonderful school, with awesome students!
