•     Welcome to a fabulous year in 5th grade!   My name is Nicole Purdy. I am a passionate teacher and truly enjoy working with diverse students to help them learn, grow, and succeed. I look forward to working with the parents, students, and community here at Sugarland!

I have been teaching for a total of 17 years.  Prior to my time at Sugarland, I worked as a Pre-K teacher for 10 years while completing my bachelor’s degree from Radford University in 2010. This will be my 7th year with Sugarland Elementary and my 5th year teaching 5th grade at Sugarland.  I previously taught at Sugarland Elementary from August 2011-July 2015.  Unfortunately, a move overseas brought my time here to a close temporarily.

When I returned to the area in 2018, I immediately knew I wanted to return to Sugarland because of it’s fantastic community, students, and staff.  Since 2018, I have substituted for many positions at Sugarland and across the county.  While I enjoyed those opportunities, I am excited to be back at Sugarland Elementary full-time for the 2020-2021 school year!

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, June Bug and Gypsy, reading, watching hockey (Go CAPS!), and crafting. I am also lucky to have 5 nephews and 2 nieces that make being an aunt the most fun!  Most of my free time is normally centered around my family and my dogs.

I am so happy to be working with you and your child as we take on the 2020-2021 school year with persistence, optimism, and a whole lot of knowledge!  This is truly going to be a FABULOUS year in 5th grade!

Please feel free to contact me via email (nicole.purdy@lcps.org), Class Dojo, or calling the school directly [(703)434-4460] if you have any questions.

    Your eager educator,

    Ms. Purdy
