Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I am happy to be returning for my fifth year at Horizon as part of the amazing second grade team!  I have been a teacher for 19 years with experience in preschool (7 years) Kindergarten (2 years) and second grade (10 years). That adds up, right?
As the mother of a child on the Autism Spectrum, I am passionate about inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices that support the growth of the whole child.
Since 2010, I have used Conscious Disicpine, a comprehensive program for school and home that combines social-emotional learning, executive function and problem solving. I enjoy spending a week in Orlando during the summer training other education professionals as well as conducting local trainings and presenting at education conferences.
My boys, Connor (19) and Evan (17), students at Northern Virginia Community College and Potomac Falls High School, are as different as night and day. This helps me to see each child as a unique individual with areas of strength.
When I'm not busy at school, I make spending time with friends and family a priority. I enjoy movies, reading, music, movies, yoga, minduflness, purple pens, dark chocolate and chai tea latte.
I value good communication with parents and look forward to working together to help your child have a wonderful year in second grade!
