JG Hello everyone!!  My name is Janae Gwizdala, and I am so excited to continue my journey at Farmwell Station Middle School as the 6th Grade Counselor. I am beginning my 14th year working in Loudoun County. This will be a great year, as always, as I welcome the students when they return from summer break.
I am a native New Yorker. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and my Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Long Island University. My husband and I have two young sons and we enjoy being outdoors and the awesome martial art form of Karate. With my family, we are currently training in Karate, and I hope to earn my black belt in the next year and a half. I love to dance and have more than 15 years of classical dance training. I spent two years competing nationally with the Rutgers University Dance Team.
Through my experience and education, I have developed skills and insight into understanding the developmental challenges that middle school students face academically and socially. I also strongly believe in empowering and uplifting children and providing them with the skills they will need to succeed in life, from time management and study skills to character education. I also believe that together as a team, educators and parents can help guide children toward becoming productive citizens within the community.
Even though this academic year is not beginning in a way that we are all used to, I am optimistic that we can make the best of what is occuring with this global situation and come out better on the other side. I am really looking forward to building relationships with the students so that I may help them to find academic, social and emotional success at Farmwell Station. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I wish everyone a fun, exciting, and successful year.
