The 2023-2024 school year will be my tenth year as a Comet here at Horizon Elementary. This school year will be my twenty-first year teaching, and my sixteenth year teaching fifth grade as I previously taught fourth grade for five years. I am excited about returning to fifth grade and having the opportunity to continue working with the children and parents in the Comet community. I am looking forward to another wonderful year!

    Background Information

I grew up in Herndon, Virginia and attended Fairfax County Public Schools from kindergarten through fifth grade. After fifth grade my family moved to Heidelberg, Germany where we lived for four years. After extensive traveling throughout Europe, I returned to Virginia and finished high school in FCPS. I attended NVCC for two years before transferring to George Mason University, where I completed my undergrad and graduate work to become an elementary school teacher. My first year of teaching was in Fairfax County, followed by the past nineteen years in Loudoun County.

So, here I am, ready and excited to teach another year at Horizon. As I said before, I am looking forward to getting to know the students and their families this year. I am also looking forward to sharing my experiences overseas with the students to supplement the curriculum during instruction. As a teacher of children, I am looking forward to continuing my education as an ongoing learner with your children teaching me lessons of their own every day.
