Tess Dickerson recently moved here from Laguna Beach, California with her husband, two boys and goofy little dog-Turk. While she is new to the area, she did work (for one year) as a Fourth Grade teacher at Meadowland Elementary back in 1997. The main reason for her return to this area is her LOVE for Virginia. Her two boys (19-Charlie and 21- Jack) will be attending college in Boston, MA in the Fall. Being closer to them is another important reason for the relocation. Fun fact: she has lived in VA 4 different times and in 4 different locations and has loved every spot, Virginia has always felt like her "home".
Her husband, Jeb (Middle School Sweetheart) will also be teaching in LCPS. He is an 8th grade Social Sciences teacher at Trailside Middle School.
She has a BS from UCI-University of California, Irvine in Psychology and Social Behaviors with an emphasis in Child Development. Her post graduate certificate is from Concordia College, Irvine. She has taught Kindergarten, First, Second and Fourth grade. She has also had the pleasure of working in Special Education and with newcomers and ELL. While Fifth grade will be new to her, she is very excited to join BeST and the wonderful Fifth grade team.
She enjoys all things outdoors. She and her family enjoy camping, hiking and spending quality time together. She is an avid reader and especially loves historical fiction novels. She loves to cook, bake and create! She lives and appreciates life to the fullest with lots of creativity sprinkled in!
