    Hello, Second Grade Families!

I'm so excited to begin my second year at CCE as a COLT! I have taught all grades, PK through 5th, but I have a sweet spot for 2nd!

I can't wait to meet each and every one of you and begin building our classroom family! I promise to try my best every day to make school your happy place--I love teaching and I strive to let my students know, at all times, how much I care about them.

I graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BA in English and Elementary Education PK-6. I began my teaching career in Spotsylvania County (K/1 combo and 5th grades) then traveled to Manhattan Beach, CA where I taught preschool and 3rd grade. I returned home to Virginia where I taught 4th grade in Fairfax County for 2 years before moving to Loudoun and taking a hiatus from teaching to stay home with my children. I enjoyed private tutoring and working part time at my children's elementary school to "stay connected."

I am married to Todd and have 4 children--a junior at Independence High School (Isabella) and 3 juniors in college (Max, Gabrielle and Olivia). Our fur baby rescues are also very important members of our family: Hershey, the Beagle/Rhodisian Ridgeback and Zoe the Shih Tzu.

I am so looking forward to learning all of your favorite things! I thought I'd share some of my favorite things in addition to being a teacher... trips to the beach and to my parents' lake house, yoga, hiking, reading, swimming, long walks with my dogs, and painting. I'm a huge animal lover, so I want to paint animals in my own art studio one day!

    See you soon, Second Graders!

    Love,
    Mrs. McDonald
