Ms. Maher

Ms. Maher is so excited to welcome you to her class! She is a Loudoun County native and loves all the wonders that LOCO offers. She attended James Madison University for her Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and for her Masters degree in Education.

This will be Ms. Maher's sixth year teaching in LCPS and her second year teaching 5th grade at MTES. Ms. Maher is excited to be co-teaching again with Mrs. Wardwell this year. Ms. Maher looks forward to teaching the reading, writing, and social studies curriculum, as she is a passionate reader and a lover of history. Ms. Maher loves forming positive and lasting relationships with her students and their families. She says that her favorite part of teaching is watching her class grow into a community of learners. She is excited for her and her students to explore the 5th-grade curriculum with active learning experiences!

Ms. Maher is an avid reader and passionate about literacy both in and outside the classroom. She enjoys sharing some of her favorite children's literature and authors with her students such Judy Blume,Kate DiCamillo, and Rick Riordan. In her free time she enjoys reading biographies, realistic fiction, and historical fiction novels.

When she isn’t reading Ms. Maher enjoys spending time with her family, baking sweet treats, and hiking around the area with her dogs Lucy and Zoe. Ms. Maher’s favorite place to be is Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. She and her family enjoy making their yearly trip and always make sure to stop for Frozen Custard on the boardwalk.
