Dr. Heckman

Dr. Heckman adores teaching 5th grade at Madison’s Trust Elementary School! She is beginning her third year in Loudoun County and at MTE. She has enjoyed her first years here and loves the community.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Heckman received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. She relocated to Texas afterward and began her teaching career in Dallas, Texas. During her 30 years in Dallas, she received her Masters's degree and Doctoral degree from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. Both of these recent degrees were in Education and Administration. She has taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in both Dallas, Texas and Mesquite, Texas, and now in Loudoun County, Virginia. She loves teaching, especially 5th graders, so she is eagerly anticipating another exciting year. She still enjoys being in the classroom because children inspire her with their energy and creativity.

Dr. Heckman loves all things Disney, including traveling regularly to Walt Disney World. She enjoys traveling and road trips. She has seen all but 5 of the 50 states. Along with traveling, she loves reading, paper crafting, knitting, and photography. Right now she is walking on a virtual trip to Mordor. Lord of the Rings is her favorite book series. She also loves sharing her spare time with her family, including her husband, daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, and her dogs. Dr. Heckman is eager to meet all of her new students and families, and to continue learning and growing together.
