Ms. Heather Bohon

Ms. Bohon is excited to be joining the United Mental Health team as a Student Assistance Specialist at River Bend Middle School. She is a Northern VA native and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to working as a Student Assistance Specialist, Ms. Bohon worked in many settings including foster care, hospice, nursing homes, Fairfax County Department of Family Services, Arlington County Community Services Board, Inova Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services, Private Practice for Atlantic Counseling Group and most recently, as a Substance Abuse Preventions Specialist in Fairfax County Public Schools. Ms. Bohon was the SAPS for the South Lakes HS pyramid in Reston, VA for several school years.

As the Student Assistance Specialist, Ms. Bohon will be supporting the United Mental Health team by providing mental health and substance use prevention and intervention work through Insight Class, individual and group counseling. She will also consult with the United Mental Health team, parents, teachers and outside school professionals.

Outside of school, Ms. Bohon loves to spend time with her husband, her baby, Alfie and her local family and friends. She also loves coffee, traveling and spending too much money at Michael’s for crafts.
