The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) is an individualized reading assessment administered to students in grades one through five. Kindergarten students may be assessed in the spring. The main purposes of the DRA are to enable teachers to systematically observe, record, and evaluate change in student reading performance and to plan for and teach what each student needs to learn next. The DRA assesses student-reading achievement in engagement, oral reading, fluency, and comprehension skills and strategies. Benchmark levels have been established for the fall, mid-year and spring. The chart below represents the Spring/End-of-Year benchmarks.
