Degrees and Certifications:
I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten again this year at Emerick. This will be my fourth year at Emerick and my 11th year in Loudoun.
A little bit about Me...
I taught first grade for my first four years at Pinebrook Elementary in Aldie. I opened up Frederick Douglass Elementary in 2012 and continued to teach first grade. Before I started teaching, I graduated from James Madison University with my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2008 where I also completed my undergraduate work. I grew up in Northern Virginia and attended school in Arlington. My family still lives in the area and I enjoy visiting them often.
In my free time I enjoy exploring the area and spending time with family and friends. I live in Purcellville with my husband and my two kiddos, Julianna (3) and Declan (4 months). I am also a big fan of traveling. I spent 5 weeks studying abroad in Australia my junior year of college. While there, the JMU students worked in the schools and observed a variety of teaching strategies. I have also traveled to South America, Asia, and Europe as well as almost all of the 50 states (I only have 3 left!). We live in a global world now and I want to open up my students to the possibilities that are out there I try to bring my experiences into the classroom as much as possible.
I am also a huge Redskins fan and I look forward to many Sundays watching the games. I am hoping for another chance in the playoffs!
I am looking forward to another great year in kindergarten. I have an open door policy so feel free to contact me whenever you need to with questions and concerns!
