• Hello Arcola Family and Friends!

My name is Steven Charlish and I am so very excited to be joining the administration team at Arcola as Assistant Principal.

I have been teaching for the past twenty-something years and have been a teacher in Loudoun County for the past thirteen years. You may recognize me as I have been teaching FUTURA here at Arcola since 2017.

I was born in England, just outside of London, and then moved to the West of England to study education.  Before coming to the United States in 2006, I was teaching third through fifth grade at schools in the city of Bristol, in the west of England. I was also lucky enough to teach in New Zealand and Nicaragua.

I graduated with honors from Bath Spa University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative English and Studies of Childhood with Qualified Teacher Status. Since then I have earned my Master’s in Educational Studies from Shenandoah University, my Virginia Endorsement in Gifted Education and my Professional Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Outside of school, I am an avid football (soccer) fan, Tottenham Hotspur to be precise, and I enjoy many American sports, such as football (Redskins), hockey (Go Caps), and baseball (World Series-winning Nats). I am a local sports guy! I love playing golf, traveling and generally anything that can help me be outside!

I am thoroughly looking forward to this new role at Arcola and getting to know all our wonderful students and families.
