Marshall was appointed in December 2021 to the Loudoun County School Board. This is Marshall’s third term on the board. He was a part of several committees during his previous tenures, including the Student Support and Services Committee, Discipline Committee and Human Resources and Talent Development Committee. Marshall will represent the Leesburg District through December 31, 2022.
Marshall previously served for eight years, after being elected as the Leesburg District School Board representative in 2003 and 2015. Marshall has devoted a majority of his life to public education. Prior to his years on the Loudoun County School Board, he served for 30 years in Fairfax County Public Schools as a teacher, counselor and Director of Student Services and in the Philippines for two years with the Peace Corps.
Through the years, Marshall has been an active member of his community, serving as Vice Chair and Chairman of the McLean Community Center, President of the American Federation of Aviculture, and President of the Condo Board at Minor House Condominiums.
Tom Marshall earned his bachelor’s degree in European History from Randolph-Macon College, an master’s degree from the University of Virginia in Counseling Education and a master’s degree in Communication from American University.
Tom and his wife, Barbi, live in Leesburg. Their daughter, Amy, is a graduate of Loudoun County High School. Their son, Cory, is a graduate of Tuscarora High School.
