Mrs. Kassander, Jennifer
Mrs. Kassander is one of the Deans at River Bend Middle School. She is originally from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with focuses on Social Studies, History, and English and with a minor in Special Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She later earned a Master's in Administration and Supervision from Shenandoah University.
Mrs. Kassander began her educational career in western Pennsylvania but was not there long before moving to northern Virginia, where she began teaching at River Bend (former students may remember her as Ms. Kreps!). Mrs. Kassander taught 6th grade English and served as an Interdisciplinary Team leader before transitioning to the position of Dean in 2018. As Mrs. Kassander has spent so many years at River Bend, she considers the school and community to be like an extended family. She loves building relationships with students and their families, supporting students as they navigate middle school, and continuing her own learning in the field of education.
In her free time, Mrs. Kassander enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, doing yoga, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
