Turkey Hill/Hershey Park Field Trip

  • WHEN:

    October 25th, 2019

Payment ($140) and Permission Slips due by October 10th

This trip is for our current Introduction to Business and Marketing students. As is the case with all of our trips, students MUST be a paid DECA member to attend. On this trip, students learn about the topics of manufacturing and distribution from companies who use them them most, Turkey Hill and Hershey.

At Turkey Hill, students go through the interactive Turkey Hill museum which shows how Turkey Hill uses all local ingredients and products, transports them to their local facilities, and includes them in their manufacturing process. Once students learn about the developments in the dairy industry, they continue into the ice cream factory, where they learn how ice cream is produced and distributed. After the brief lesson in ice cream, students have the opportunity to create their own ice cream flavors and taste test them before leaving the factory.

At Hershey, students partake in the Hershey's Chocolate World, where they learn how Hershey's Inc. scours the globe in search of the best possible product for their chocolate. Students also learn about the strict guidelines that Hershey's place on their vendors to ensure only the best quality ingredients reach their factory. After exploring the chocolate world and the largest Hershey store in the world, students have the opportunity to create and design their own Hershey bars, by partaking in picking of ingredients all the way to designing their own personalized label.

After creating their own Hershey bar, students have the opportunity to experience "Hershey in the Dark" and ride roller coasters and explore the park with their friends and classmates.
