Mrs. Akers

Mrs. Imogene Akers loves being a Guilford Gator as she begins her third year at Guilford Elementary as a special education teacher. Before coming to Guilford Elementary she spent sixteen years at the home of the Pioneers, Sterling Middle School.  She is a veteran teacher with teaching experience from several schools across several states including Virginia and Kentucky.

She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in special education and elementary education in May 1979, and Master’s Degree in Education from George Mason University in May 2009.

Mrs. Akers has two precious daughters and five beautiful grandkids. She and her husband love to travel and have had awesome opportunities to travel to Singapore and Indonesia.  After retirement, Mrs. Akers plans to start a non-profit supporting retired teachers who struggle to meet their basic needs.

As a new year begins, Mrs. Akers looks forward to serving in a school community where teachers/staff are Difference Makers.
