I am so excited to be starting my 2nd year at Hillside this year! I will be working alongside Mrs. Vernon as your half-time reading specialist. I began my teaching career in Fairfax County where I taught 3rd grade after graduating from Penn State in 2001. In 2005 I earned my Masters at UVA and transitioned to the reading specialist role. After 5 years as a reading specialist, I was lucky enough to start a family with my husband. We had triplet girls (yes triplets!) in 2011, and I decided to stay at home with them.

Last year, I began the second half of my career at Hillside, and I have greatly enjoyed my first year. I spent most of my time working with third grade and 5th grade last year. This year I plan to support 4th and 5th.

I look forward to getting to know more of our Hillside families this year! Although it could be a difficult and challenging start, I truly believe we’ll find our footing and make it the best year yet. Have patience with us! We’re learning just like your students. As with every year, we will strive for excellence and to make Hillside the best place to be.

We’re here for our families anytime. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. My email is Meghan.DeBauche@lcps.org
