My name is Lori Turner (formerly Rodriguez) and this is my first year at Sugarland Elementary! I am an EL teacher working with 4th grade. I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Educaton and Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. I taught 3rd and 4th grade in Pennsylvania for five years, then moved to Virginia in 2017. For two years I was an EL teacher at Alexandria City Public Schools. 

Although I was born in Pennsylvania, I have a Hispanic background as my mother is from Peru and my father is from Puerto Rico. I love diversity, languages, learning about other cultures, and teaching others about my culture as well.  When I'm not teaching I enjoy traveling, reading, spending time with my family, and being involved in ministry opportunities with my church.  

I am beyond excited to be at Sugarland and I know this will be a great school year!
