I have spent the past 21 years teaching third, fourth, and fifth grades in various counties in Virginia, and this is my ninth year in Loudoun County. I graduated from Christopher Newport University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Psychology, a minor in Elementary Education, and a Virginia Teaching License for grades PreK-5. In 2013, I earned a Masters of Education in Teaching Reading in the Elementary School from Grand Canyon University. During the 2015-2016 school year, I was nominated for Loudoun County’s Teacher of the Year. What an honor! When I am not at school, I love going for long walks on the W&OD trail with my dog Nellie, watching my daughter dance on the Loudoun Valley High School Dance Team, or watching my stepson pitch for the KMS Barnstormers. I am so excited to be a Waxpool Piranha, and to experience a year full of Project Based Learning and Computational Thinking with this exceptional group of fifth graders! Go Piranhas!
