Hello! My name is Mandy Kachel and I am one of the P.E. teachers here at Ashburn Elementary. This is my 9th year as an educator!
I attended attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and a Masters in the Art of Teaching. I have a background in Elementary Education as well as Physical Education. I began my teaching career in the 4th and 5th grade classrooms at Ashburn Elementary and made the transition to physical education.
I was born and raised in Loudoun County, and I attended Ashburn Elementary, Farmwell Station, and Broad Run High School! Go Spartans! Some of my favorite sports to play are foobtall, basketball, volleyball. I also love to watch football, hockey, and baseball. My favorite teams are the JMU Dukes football team, Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, and Washington Nationals! When I am not playing sports, teaching, or playing with my family-- I love to run, travel, and spend time with friends. I have a 1 year-old daughter. We also have an energetic golden retriever at home who is best friends with my daughter!
I love teaching children at a young age how to have an active, healthy, and happy life! I have always had a passion for teaching and physical education. I knew I always wanted to be a teacher! My brother and I always played sports together growing up. My favorite class was always PE, and I'm excited to share this passion with every student!
Here’s to a great year at Ashburn! Go Golden Dolphins!
