Mr. Herman S. Mizell, Principal
Mr. Herman S. Mizell is a proud product of the Suffolk Public Schools—Suffolk, Virginia. After completing high school, Mr. Mizell obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English (magna cum laude). In 2004, he accepted a fellowship to obtain his master’s in Education—Administration and Supervision. Mr. Mizell has completed the necessary coursework to obtain his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction; he is currently completing his dissertation.
Mr. Mizell serves dutifully as our principal. Prior to accepting the principalship of Sterling Middle School, Mr. Mizell served as principal of Meadowland Elementary School for three years. He has served as English teacher, assistant principal, principal, school improvement manager, and director of school improvement. He is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Mr. Mizell enjoys reading, writing, dancing, and traveling. Mr. Mizell’s mantra is EFFORT CREATES ABILITY.
