Mrs. Lambourne was born in England and grew up in a seaside town called Southsea, so you might notice she has a slight accent. She later moved to London and a little later still to San Francisco, where she enjoyed being mom to her big Brady Bunch of five children. She and her family moved to Leesburg in 2008. Now that her children are all grown up, she’s blessed to be a school mom to an ever expanding family of students.

Teaching, laughing, and learning alongside her students is one of her favorite things to do, but she also loves reading, hiking, exploring new places, especially historical ones, and spending time with her family, friends, and two English Bulldogs Bella and Lola.

Mrs. Lambourne obtained her undergraduate degree focused on Elementary Education and Child Development and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction PK - 6th grade as an adult learner at George Mason University. She enjoyed every minute of her learning journey as a mature student, especially the focus on diversity and social justice. She never stopped learning just because she graduated and continues to feed her passion for developing curiosity in children and leveraging her interest in neuroscience, culturally responsive teaching, and social and emotional development to increase student motivation. She feels blessed to work with an incredible team of educators,  administrators, and support staff at Frederick Douglass. Prior to that, she enjoyed working at a Title 1 School in Fairfax City and an independent school in The Plains, VA.

2020-21 will be Mrs. Lambourne’s 2nd year at FDES, her 8th year teaching, and her 4th year teaching 5th grade. She taught 2nd grade for four years at the beginning of her teaching career.
