Baseball Head Coach Joe McDonald
Joe McDonald will enter his 25th year of education in the fall. Joe spent the first 20 years of his career as a special education teacher. For the last 4 years, Joe taught Health and Physical Education - he will return to learning resources in the fall where he will serve as the school's Transition teacher.
As a baseball coach, Joe started as an assistant baseball coach at McLean High School where he was named the head baseball coach in 2001. Joe was awarded the Liberty District Coach of the Year in 2004 while leading the Highlanders to consecutive regional appearances.
After a two-year hiatus in Pennsylvania where he assisted at Altoona Area High School, Joe and his family returned to Northern Virginia and was named head baseball coach at George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church. Joe received his second Liberty District Coach of the Year in 2012 when he guided the Statesmen to a regional berth - the school's second regional appearance under Coach McDonald.
He was named the first baseball coach at John Champe HS where he guided the Knights to two consecutive conference championship games in 2015 and in 2016.
Outside of the high school circuit, Joe coaches in the Aldie Senators organization and for the Canes. He lives in Aldie with his wife Maria and sons, Aidan, Jack, and Joe-Joe.
