    Advanced Placement Program
The Advanced Placement Program is a cooperative education endeavor with the College Board. Advanced Placement courses, often known as AP, allow students the opportunity to take college-level courses while they are enrolled in high school. Students enrolled in an AP course should expect extensive reading, writing, and critical thinking.

    Advanced Placement Exams
In the spring students are encouraged to take the nationally standardized AP examinations. AP classes are "weighted" by 1 in the grade point average calculation process if the student passes the course. Colleges may award academic credit and/or special placement if a student earns a qualifying score on the exam. Costs of the AP examinations for students enrolled in related AP classes are paid by students/parents. Students are not required to take the exam to earn the 1.0 weighting, however the student would not be eligible for college credit by not taking the exam.

ALL AP students MUST complete the AP Exam Order Form whether they are taking an AP exam or not.

To pay by credit card: On-line Payments .  Once at the on-line portal, find Loudoun County High School before selecting AP test(s).

Advanced Placement Exams are $85.00 per exam.  If paying by credit card through the LCPS Payment Portal, there will be an additional processing fee of 4% for each online transaction.  Parents are always offered the option to avoid paying the non-refundable credit card fee by paying by check, money order or cash at their student's school.  Payment deadline is March 1, 2019.

Loudoun Students Not Enrolled in Loudoun County Public Schools - use the forms above.  Students should test at their home school.  Deadline is March 1, 2019.  Bring forms and payment to the School Counseling Office.

AP Exam Refund Policy:  All AP Exam Refund requests must be submitted by Thursday, April 18th. Refund deducts a $15 non-refundable exam fee so students are refunded $70 per exam. No Refund Requests will be accepted after April 18th.
