Cheer Head Coach Becky Gonzalez

Hi! My name is Becky Gonzalez and I am from Mechanicsville, VA. I started gymnastics when I was 4 years old and transitioned into cheerleading when I was in middle school. I graduated high school from Atlee High School in 2007 where I cheered and did gymnastics all 4 years.

I went on to study and cheer at VCU for one year, then transferred to the University of Louisville. I won 4 NCA college national championships at UofL (2009 & 2010 on small coed and 2011 & 2012 on all girl), as well as 3 all-star USASF world championships with GymTyme Pink (2010, 2011 & 2012). I graduated from University of Louisville in 2012, double majoring in communications and sociology.

After college I moved up to northern VA and started my coaching career at Cheer Tyme. While at CT I coached a team to win an NCA all-star national championship, and placed as high as 2nd at Varsity’s Summit competition.

I moved to Georgia and coached at GymTyme GA for one season and then came back to northern VA to be the Team Leader at Maryland Twisters Sterling last year. I most recently came into a new role as the Athlete and Development Coordinator for the Maryland Twisters!

I am very excited to take on this new endeavor as the head coach of Independence High School. I think this is a perfect opportunity to continue in coaching the sport that I love for a brand-new school. I am excited and ready to take on the challenges of building a program and leading this team to have the most amazing inaugural competition cheerleading season!
