Executive Board/Committee Chairperson Descriptions
PTA President - Serving as president of the PTA includes the responsibility to lead the PTA toward specific goals chosen by the Principal. The president is the presiding officer and the official representative of the association.
PTA Vice President (Membership) - Primary responsibility is to establish the membership goals, design the membership and outreach promotion. Submit membership dues as established by the Virginia PTA (November, March and June). Act as an aide to the President.
PTA Vice President (Programs) - Recruit and support committee chairpersons for key fundraising events, i.e., Musical, Staff/Student Basketball Game and Spirit Nights. Continue to monitor the success of fundraisers. Recommend changes to fundraising objectives and strategies. Act as an aide to the President.
PTA Treasurer - Responsible for the planning, monitoring and execution of all PTA financial functions. The Treasurer has custody of all funds, makes disbursements, remits dues, and prepares a written financial statement comparing expenditures and budget for every meeting. Also prepares an annual financial report at the close of the fiscal year. The Treasurer assumes duties upon completion of the audit from the previous year (typically early July).
PTA Secretary - Produces minutes for all PTA meetings, records all documents and communications issued by the PTA, keeps an official copy of the PTA by-laws, and maintains a membership list. The secretary assumes duties upon completion of the PTA meeting election in May.
Hospitality Chairperson - Organizes and coordinates quarterly breakfast/luncheons for faculty and staff. Coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week, Donuts with Dads and Muffins with Moms events. Establish a hospitality committee for planning and in support of the events.
PTA Webmaster/Social Media- Responsible for maintaining and updating the PTA website. Previous website design experience is not necessary. Timely updates to the site will be made on an as needed basis. Many updates can be completed in a matter of minutes. Include PTA event information on RBMS Face book and Twitter.
Spirit Wear Chairperson - Coordinates with the PTA, Principal and vendors regarding logo design and selection of items. Distributes items after production and create marketing flyers for in school and online distribution. Display and sell spirit wear items at PTA sponsored events.
Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee (MSAAC) Rep - Purpose is to advise LCPS of the educational and cultural needs of the minority student. Representative attends the monthly meetings held every 3rd Wednesday, 7-9PM at LCPS Administration Building. Report meeting summary at PTA meetings. An Alternate Rep is recommended; can attend meetings in Primary Rep absence.
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) Rep - Purpose is to advise the School Board on unmet needs of special education students. Representative attends the monthly meetings held every 1st Wednesday, 7-9PM at the LCPS Administration Building. Report meeting summary at PTA meetings. An Alternate Rep is recommended; can attend meetings in Primary Rep absence.
